You're Trying to Get Pregnant

by Amelia Yap

You are here because you want to experience the joys of parenthood. By increasing your fertility you have a better opportunity to bring a child into this world.

3 easy ways to increase your fertility.

Use these 3 tips to improve your fertility and increase your chances of and getting pregnant.

1. Getting More Sleep

The hormone leptin, known as an appetite and weight-regulation-hormone plays a critical role in female fertility. Leptin levels fall when we are sleep-deprived. Researchers have found low levels of leptin in some infertile women. When you are trying to conceive, set yourself up a sleep schedule, always going to sleep and waking up at the same time.

2. Reduce Exposure to Pesticides

Exposure to the man made chemical methoxychlor (member of the DDT family) reduced testosterone levels, which may in turn, reduce male fertility. This same pesticide which is used to kill files, mosquitoes and other insects can also impair the function of a woman's reproductive system.

3. Vitamins and Supplements

Research has shown that vitamin supplements increases both the mid-cycle basal body temperature and progesterone levels -- both of which are used to assess ovulation.

Some beneficial vitamins and minerals include:

- Zinc is an essential mineral used by the body and is very important for the growth and overall health of the fetus.

- Iron increases fertility and reduces the risk of premature birth

- Folic Acid can decrease the risk of the fetus suffering a neural defect by 50%.

- Vitamin C needs to be taken daily as it is water soluble which means that it is not stored in the body for long periods of time and must be replenished frequently.

- Magnesium deficiency is linked to a higher risk of miscarriage.
